    Purpose

    The PSEC Senior Specialist drives technical competence across the PSEC practice; providing specialist technical inputs to programmes, technical writing for bids, technical thought leadership across the business in the UK, Europe & US, inputs to internal & external training and contributing to the PSEC practice strategy and growth.

    They collaborate closely with clients, partners, internal stakeholders across the Chemonics family of companies and consultants, and manage and mentor staff to strengthen technical capability.

    Responsibilities: 

    Technical Delivery

    • Undertakes billable work and delivers high-quality project deliverables as required
    • Ensures project technical objectives are met in partnership with team lead and support staff   
    • Works with staff and consultants to ensure existing best practices and innovative methodologies are utilised
    • Applies technical expertise to projects’ technical goals and objectives.
    • Supports project teams to learn and improve on their technical delivery, joining in strategy and work planning sessions to ensure technical good practice is maintained across projects.

    Outreach, Communications and Business Winning  

    • Develops compelling proposals contributing to both the technical writing and technical reviewing of bids across a variety of mostly European clients
    • Promotes Chemonics by identifying opportunities for and attending external events, collaborating with ecosystem players on joint events, webinars and reports, networking with clients and counterparts, articulating a solid understanding of Chemonics’ past and present portfolio; effectively representing the company’s history, values, and standards; and identifying and developing new business leads. 
    • With the Chemonics Comms team, supports development of materials and events to improve positioning with Chemonics’ clients across Europe and within the industry
    • Proactively seeks out and identifies opportunities for new business
    • Develops network of technical specialists, relevant partners and stakeholders to support delivery of Practice Strategy

    Client Engagement  

    • Develops effective working relationships with internal and external clients, counterparts and stakeholders and continually promotes outstanding client service with corporate office staff and project teams
    • Provides any relevant client insights

    Practice Support and Training

    • Identifies opportunities for knowledge- and solution-sharing across the company and takes initiative to build staff and company capacity such as staff training, webinars, blogs, joint articles, etc.
    • Collaborates closely with the Practice Lead in developing work plans, ensuring timely resources to execute plans, supervising progress, and reporting of implementation
    • Supports the Practice Lead in maintaining an internal and external technical bench and register of support partners.

    Corporate Compliance  

    • Coordinates with the team and integrates compliance guidance into work planning and delivery
    • Contributes to Chemonics corporate culture by demonstrating Chemonics values
    • May be required to line manage staff as necessary

     

    Education / Professional Skills

    • Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred.

     

    Person Specification:

    • Demonstrable experience in delivering technical advisory on development finance, climate finance, capital mobilisation or investment programmes.
    • Experience in developing bids and delivering programmes in the above technical areas for donors such as FCDO, EU, IFIs, etc.
    • Thorough understanding of client requirements and preferred methods of business 
    • Experience in writing proposal or report sections. 
    • Demonstrated experience multitasking with attention to detail, organization, and time management skills. 
    • Works independently and as part of a team 
    • Demonstrated resourcefulness in problem-solving and initiative to learn new skills.  
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications 
    • Previous experience working in international development and/or living or conducting work in developing countries preferred. 
    • Working proficiency in multiple languages preferred given global forward market. 
    • Willingness to travel up to 4 weeks at a time.
